Thanks for visiting my blog. I hope you participate and provide your experiences and share with me and everyone else your journey to being fit and healthy. Just so you know that being healthy is what I am ultimately concerned with in life, not six pack abs and zero percent body fat. That may be a nice thing to have but that doesn't mean you are ultimately healthy. You may hear me talk about wanting abs or being excited if they show up at some point but do not confuse my enthusiasm or excitement of seeing this with my goals, because they are not. I have never had abs, so if you see me gushing with excitement in a post it's because it is a foreign thing to me.
I was born in the small farm town Fairfield located in southern Illinois. At eight my family moved us to the "Big City" of Gastonia, NC. I still remember picking my jaw up off the ground because we had a mall (WOW), not only did we have a mall but our mall had a glass elevator. We all thought that was the coolest thing in the world.
Graduated high school and found myself joining the Marine Corps after I hit a few of life's little speed bump, turned out to be a top 10 move in my life. To all of my fellow Marines Ooorah!
After five years in the military I went to college at Eastern Illinois University (where Tony Romo) went to school) were I ended up meeting a lady that stole my heart and didn't put up with my shit, so I decided she was the one :). We got married and I moved her to beautiful NC and we now have two beautiful boys, Noah and Jacob. We are God loving people but we did not name our boys Noah and Jacob because they are biblical names, just worked out that way.
We own a small business that sells compression apparel, so I am very familiar with all of the compression garments from 2XU, CEP, Zensah, Jobst, Medi, and on and on. So I will be glad to share my thoughts on whether I find them beneficial or not for runners and for everyday life.
Health
As you may have read in some of my previous post, I am not the poster child of health and well being. I am not an overly heavy person but I definitely have had my fair share of issues. High cholesterol, depression, anxiety, Low T, and episodes of uncontrollable twerking when Miley comes on the radio. If you don't know what twerking is, you are worse than me, of course, I just figured it out but love saying it. Lot's of fun, try it and watch the expression on your neighbors, spouse and co-workers faces when you say it in casual conversation...hahaha! Gotta have fun in life, at least that's what I am starting to learn.
I try not to eat processed foods, I am not a food Nazi by any means but I try to eat organic, whole foods as much as possible. I love eating vegetarian, I am not but I feel so much better when I go without meat. Do not like fast food. McDonald's, Burger King you all suck! You are killing people, especially those that can't afford to eat healthy. Here let me make a combo pack with four burgers, chicken nuggets and two large fries for $5. You can't afford not to eat it, at least not easily. So I have a passion for good, healthy food, so I will spend some time discussing food.
Activity
| Playing in the pool with Noah. This was my activity, oh boy. |
I am a slug, couch potato, I love naps, exercising has never been an overly easy thing for me to do. Once I get into it I am all in but that may take months of the idea dancing around in my head. I am your prototypical feast or famine type guy. Smoked for 20 + years, thank God I finely got away from it, one of the nastiest habits you can have. I can thank my two boys for being able to stop, that and the fact that I am not a complete ass; I was for a bit, but I wised up. If you smoke, stop it, you smell, your killing yourself and you look like an idiot. If you smoke around kids you're an ass and an idiot... sorry, but true.
